I have had a love for writing as early as I can remember. I began typing up my own homemade newspapers on my dad's old typewriter in the late 1970's, as early as second grade. My first "book" was called The Trial of Zeke, a ten-page tome written in crayon, bound with cardboard and some old rings I pulled out of a binder notebook.

I wrote my first full-length book, called The Dissatisfaction Principle, while I was finishing college, fresh out of a handful of undregraduate philosophy classes. Of course, it never occurred to me to think about who might want to read the book before I wrote it, so it has rested idly on my bookshelf for the past thirteen years. At least it is in good company; it is joined by an unpublished novel, the first hundred pages of a second fiction book that never matured, and a handful of plays, short stories and poems that span two decades.

I have written performing arts reviews for the Pueblo Chieftain newspaper on and off for the past seven years, and my editor, Marvin Read, invited me to produce my own weekly column in the Religion section in early 2006.

My first book, "Lost: A Search for Meaning," was released in November, 2006. It's available in all Cokesbury bookstores across the country, can be ordered form any bookstore, and can be purchased online at Amazon, the Chalice Press website, and most other major online book retailer sites. It is featured in Cokesbury's Spring 2007 "Good Books" catalog, and there are a number of reviews in the works.

I started writing a column in Disciples World  magazine starting January, 2007. I alternate issues with another young adult church leader, Ayanna Johnson, and we share the daunting responsibility of trying to represent the young adult perspective to the greater denomination.

I am the proud father of a son, Mattias, and husband to Rev. Amy Piatt, founder of Milagro Christian Church, our new church start in Pueblo Colorado. I enjoy supporting her ministry as much as possible, inlcuding  leading music in our services and helping with everything from Christian education classes to unclogging toilets.

In July, Amy and I have our new book coming out with Chalice Press titled "MySpace to Sacred Space: God for a New Generation." It's about young adult spirituality, and our research has been very interesting. We've surveyed about 750 young adults online, and we've sent video cameras to folks all over the country to record their own stories and understanding of God, the church and the current state of young adults. The complete results of the survey are available for viewing and download on this site, and we hope to have a free sample chapter for download soon.

If you have any quesitons about me or my background, please feel free to email me. I look forward to hearing from you, and thanks for taking the time to visit my site.
